Weekend Adventures (holiday edition)

=^.^=

Yes, I know it’s late.. it’s a holiday weekend. This is the weekend adventures holiday edition.. 🙂

Happy Memorial Day everyone.. I have to say it’s been an interesting one for me, nothing unusual just been a bit boring but relaxing which after coming back from being in Tampa and having to work through lunch four days straight is an awesome thing.

Here are some accomplishments of this three day weekend so far :

Learn the history of the Baja sauce and ate my first Chicken Baja Chaulpa from Taco Bell, it’s always good to hear the history of a place while eating the food.

currently searching for a baja sauce recipe to impress and win the eternal love of the boyfriend.. here’s what I found so far:

thanks to http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/baja-sauce/Detail.aspx

Prep Time:
25 Min
Ready In:
3 Hrs 25 Min

Ingredients

  • 1/4 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin

Directions

  1. Place bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, and onion in the bowl of a food processor; puree until smooth. Stir together 4 teaspoons of this puree with the mayonnaise, and vinegar in a small bowl. Season with pepper, garlic powder, and cumin. Cover, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to allow flavors to develop.
on another food note,

Had some delicious pizza and pretzels at Mellow Mushroom,

 homemade goodness

Mmm..

hungry yet??

their food is soo good. I had to admit it was a struggle to try to finish what I did. I would suggest not being completely hungry when going there because you are going to wait at least 20 minutes for the starters and then 10 more for the actual food. But it is well worth the wait.

and to top off the evening I went to Lake ella

where I got to watch the Canadian geese doing different flying formations and flying off before the sun set, seeing some of the pigeons, a squirrel and different people and dogs walk by. It’s a great place to have a conversation, feed the ducks, turtles (which includes the ever elusive soft shelled turtle which are huge and kinda funky looking )

oh and last but not least.. I got my dose of Lilo & Stitch while I was folding clothes and doing laundry..

Life is good.. ❤

See you next weekend!

(P.S. I know I’ve been slacking on the original fiction.. I am working on Delmar pt 2 for those that have read Delmar pt 1, and getting together photos for a show and possibly working on some more story in a picture fiction.. I have some great inspiration and I hope to make it up to everyone.. )

Weekend Adventures

Cute pig 2

=^.^=

Greetings from central Florida.. the weather is perfect and things are looking up.

There are a lot of things that have been going on in the past few days and I am very excited about the way things are going.

Saturday downtown Disney whoo! and my very first Fuddrucker’s experience..

Very excited.. hoping to get some pictures as I haven’t gotten any so far.. which is really weird of me.

Got walk the length of downtown disney and got to ride the ferry boat from one side to the other, stopped at a little sweet shop where I saw awesomness in rice crispy cake form

Minnie Mouse rice krispy cake $50

Mickey Mouse rice krispy cake $50

I got a mickey eared rice krispy treat dipped in milk chocolate coated in various color sprinkles and drizzled with white chocolate.. holy heck it was a lot of sugar.. geez.. if my blood sugar wasn’t at a 71 (it was tested at such and i was shaking like a crack addict) I probably would have gone into a diabetic sugar coma.. after about 30 minutes I had stopped shaking and was slightly buzzed after all the sugar.

went to the lego land place and took some awesome pictures of great lego kits..

very awesome kits/sets.. (the scorpion pyramid set)

(the awesome sports car kit)

I took some random pictures of Stitch things from various places in Downtown Disney (see my previous post on Lilo & Stitch and why I love it so much) ..

Scuba Stitch in pin form

charm stitch for either a bracelet or necklace

baby stitch in pin form

tag stitch for pet tags

vinylmation stitch

no stitch but i do like the finding nemo pin collection..

thinking about doing the bathroom in a finding nemo theme.. or maybe lilo & stitch..?  it would be so easy to find fish related items or luau related items for bathrooms.. we’ll have to see.

Also, we came across an awesome magnet place and took some pictures of the great sayings.. (I was not about to pay $8 for a magnet)

(I love love the ghostbusters.. I love the car and the cheesy 80’s graphics.. )

For my dear friends who are going through some tough times..

the true motto of a future cat lady =^.^=

Another awesome one for friends struggling.

One of my other favorite sayings..

“With with intention, walk the edge. List hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. live as if this is all there is.”

Sorry about the bad reflection this was taken with my camera phone in near full sun light..

“Just when the capterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly”

not sure why this didn’t turn out but I included it any way because I truly believe this..

As for dinner.. Fuddruckers was interesting.. I didn’t know what to expect, but you go in order what you want, wait for your name to be called pick it up and go to the area where you dress up your burger with the condiments of your choice.. ketchup, mayo, mustard, dijon mustard, lettuce, tomato, etc.

I had the turkey burger combo which came with a drink and fries.. and not just everyday string fries but more like KFC potato wedges.. where were seasoned lightly.

And if I may say they were very good with dijon mustard..  they charged $1 for a slice of cheese… (sheesh)  but all in all it was a good… the turkey burger wasn’t what I would expect I had assumed it would be like a normal burger just made with turkey meat, no this you could tell was turkey it was lighter, leaner and very good..

for two people you are looking at about $20+ which is a bit much to ask for a fast food place.. but it’s a cross from a burger king and applebees.. the burger was not greasy nor was it sitting under a heating lamp which is always a plus.

and being able to pick your own condiments was pretty cool. and you don’t have to worry about  throwing away your trash as the employees take care of it for you.

They also have a dessert area where you can purchase the rolls, the cookies, brownies and more.

Did I mention they make they own rolls fresh in the morning? they give you the choice of either normal white or wheat.. the white has a few sesame seeds on it while the wheat one does not.

Very soft bread.. I would definitely recommend it.

Another restaurant I went to was Kobe Japanese Steakhouse..

I’ve been in a hibachi steakhouse before.. but this was a different experience.. one my friends and I went after 9pm where we got to to do the 2 for $29 which included a onion soup with a few mushroom pieces, a salad (lettuce, tomato and house dressing) and then the meal, first up is the veggies, broccoli, onions, and carrots.. of which I normally don’t eat onions, but they were very sweet and delicious, then the noodles, the egg fried rice, steak , chicken and last but not least the shrimp  (mind you this is all for $29 for 2 not to mention the drinks) they give you a white sauce which is a strange combination of things but very tasty the other sauce is red with what looks like pepper flakes in it and is slightly spicy.. but the food itself stands alone with the teriyaki sauce

the person who served us the salad, soup and drinks was very polite as was the chief..

I was very impressed with the food and the service and will be going there again.

I think that about wraps my weekend adventures up.. =^.^=

I will be returning to my daily paper shuffling on tuesday.

A Day in the Life of a Paper Shuffler

Today’s story is a departure from my usual fiction.. it’s more autobiographical ..

A Day in the Life of a Paper Shuffler

8:57 a.m – Start of the day, got in settled, music is playing. life is good.. now time to work.

10:15 a.m. – started doodles for ideas of a new webpage for Yasorus Productions, looked at some cakes online really liking the Coconut Cabana Cake from Publix.. how cute

11:05 a.m. – Snack attack, carrots are frozen.. like iced over frozen. So much for trying to be healthy. Just going to let them defrost in the sunlight at my desk.

11:15 a.m. – Carrots are thawing nicely, too late.. having a snack pack of chocolate teddy grahams instead.. nom.. made a chocolate teddy graham paramid..

12:30 p.m. -eating lunch.. nom. An bagel with egg and cheese from Bagelheads.. lots and lots of egg 🙂 it’s a bit greasy but it’s been sitting in the fridge since 8:57 a.m. still good. Making a note to self to buy a baker’s dozen as $3 and some change every few days is getting a bit pricey. Shuffling some more paper into neat piles and getting things wrapped up for lunch.

Bagelheads Melts

1-2 p.m. – Official lunch time = nap time, gotta recharge the human battery… Zzzz…

3:30 p.m. – holy heck.. seriously.. how am I supposed to run this through the scanner?? It’s 5 inches thick, thankfully the client is ok with an overnight FedEx… now to find a box or package for this bad boy to fit into..

4:30 p.m. – Bored outta my gourd.. everything is done and ready, now just putting paperclips in little neat piles and re-stacking the printers with paper

5:00 p.m. – I’m free! Now to put my plans for the doodled webpage into motion

6:15 p.m. – Klondike dessert attack.. off I go to Publix to get some heavenly cholocate covered goodness. ❤ Snapped a few pictures of the sky and whatnot on the way there.. got to love living out in the country sometimes..

Lilo & Stitch (why I love it so much)

=^.^=

For those of you that know of my great love for Lilo & Stitch (or those that don’t) I decided to make a list of reasons why I love and adore this movie so much..

1. No  princess – I grew up in the age of Little Mermaid, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast ..and though Belle from Beauty and the Beast isn’t a “princess” per say as Jasmine and Ariel are.. she’s still viewed as one.. and back then I related to Belle more because she, like myself was a bookworm.. and everything had a fairy tale ended.. the women got their men (though personally I think the beast looked better as a beast than human)

2. No singing! – I freaking hate singing.. it’s just not natural for characters to sing to furniture, or undersea animals to play instruments or a gene to demostrate his powers in front of you before making a wish..

3. No prince – Thank you Disney! Lilo & Stitch has no prince.. Lilo is no princess and that’s why I love it.

4. Dancing (see below)

how can you not love it? I mean really…

4. Hawaii – ok I succumb to the desire to want to see Hawaii now.. especially after the beautiful animation for the opening credits and hearing the beautiful Hawaiian music. I know Disney doesn’t just pull things out of thin air, I’ve seen the documentaries on the making of the Lion King, I know they studied and took pictures and studied and drew and perfected.. this is one of the reason I love Disney.

5. Realism – Lilo is from a broken home.. she’s a bit unbalanced and a bit crazy and Nani is no better.. but we love them both for it..

especially Lilo she feeds Pudge the fish a peanut butter sandwich because she believes he controls the weather

I love the realism.. because you can relate to her.. she’s not some princess living in a castle in an Arab country or some country girl singing in town about the townspeople being stalked but an overly muscular man.. she’s real.

Every little girl knows what it’s like to try to fit in and make friends but knowing no matter how hard you try sometimes it just doesn’t work.

6. Stitch is awesome ! – He makes the intergalatic counsel woman (thing) freak out.. he escapes a space ship, he lands on a planet mostly made of water, alludes capture, impersonates a dog, builds San Fransciso tears it down, reads the Ugly Duckling and relates to it, purrs, drools, causes destruction, dances and plays the guitar

(Stich = awesomeness)

and did I mention he saves the day?

(one of my favorite scenes in the end credits)

And he uses Nani’s  bra as a cover for his ears..and a tablecloth for a cape to be Super Stitch.. what’s not to love?

7. Elvis – now I will be the first to admit I’m not a big Elvis fan.. but I really loved the music in the movie

8. Halloween Stitch

(another scene from the end credits)

Lilo is a witch.. which I was several years running as a little girl..

9.  Kids love Stitch and he is a money maker… Disney knows that they not only created something different and unique by making Lilo & Stitch but they made a story that everyone can relate to.. it’s the Ugly Duckling rewritten.

(the giant stitch at Downtown Disney in Orlando, FL)

(Lilo & Stitch in Disney.. I got my picture taken with them in Animal Kingdom when we went in 2010.. I was more excited than the kids in line)

the Polynesian resort on Disney Property which is island themed to begin with has all kinds of Lilo & Stitch items..and in visiting it last year I felt like I was in heaven.. the beach area is beautiful with hammocks and loungers and the inside is gorgeous with the pond and sitting area.

Now if you will excuse me I’m going to go watch Lilo & Stitch. ❤

Weekend Adventures

=^.^= whew! I can’t believe I did so much in one day.. my inner child found happiness at the beach and the old woman bent over to get pictures of the various gifts from the sea more times than she would have liked to count..

The mornings started bright and early with a free oil change (thanks to Kia Autosports),

(the tag on my car Saturday morning from the oil change)

then as I was heading to Bagelheads for a deliciously addictive covered bagel

(egg, cheese on a bagel), I decided “what the heck?” and stopped by a little shopping mall I hadn’t been to several months and below is what I saw waving at me from a distance

(for those that don’t know it’s the Dollar Tree “dollar” mascot, they had just opened a new one in that little shopping strip)

so I browse around.. get a few things.. and I see the below..

and I freaking nearly died laughing.. “Butt Aid” haha..I love Dollar Tree sometimes..

So after walking and from one store to another getting my heaven on a bagel I went to Tom Brown Park to take some pictures of Lake Leon and such to find it it looking like this..

(the bridge around lake Leon)

what the heck? well after walking around the lake I found what was going on..

they were cleaning up the sediment and doing some much needed litter control there.. which I am very happy about.. but a little sad because the bridge had all kinds of great small trees and brush going around it and now it’s gone and clear and you can see clear cut evidence of the pollution..  it was depressing really.. so to make myself a bit happier I walked to the dog park which isn’t far from there.. and then to the BMX track and avoiding the disc golfers as I did not want to get hit on the head with one of those things (though it would have made an amusing story) and I made my way back and took a nap in the car under the shade of the tree..

went home for an hour or so.. and the daylight with going to Carabelle for the sunset and I got some great beach pictures

(the sunsetting over the water in Carabelle, FL)

and started my night at TGI Friday’s with some awesome food.. the 3 for $12.00 menu is still there with some changes..

I had the broccoli & cheese soup (heaven!), the honey dijon beer crusted chicken and the oreo ice cream sandwich for dessert..

(not my image taken from friday’s website)

the chicken was juicy and flavorful and the salad was perfect..  and of course the ice cream sandwich was nothing more than a klondike bar

(again not my image)

made pretty by drizzling caramel and chocolate syrup on a rectangular plate.. last time I ate there I had the peanut butter chocolate pie.. which was delicious.. (and I’m not a huge fan of peanut butter) but it seems like it didn’t sale so it’s off the menu.

After all the walking and picture taking and eating.. I was exhausted.. still am.. and a tad sore..

So without further ado..

to all mothers.. regardless of how many legs if you nurture and care for it.. you’re a mom.

I got my mother’s day morning snuggles from Buggy this morning

(my Buggy being a happy cat in the cat tree)
